Semester Programs IWLS semester courses are amongst the most substantial and comprehensive outdoor education programs available.
Our 80 day semester programs incorporate a broad range of technical skills while building a solid experience base in decision making, judgement, and risk assessment. These all encompassing leadership and guide training programs deliver an exciting and educational semester of university credit.
IWLS semesters in the following locations are comprehensive leadership education courses as well as incredible expeditions in some of the most inspirational places on earth. |
 Alaska Semester: Mountaineering (or Ski/Snowboard Mountaineering), Sea Kayaking, Backpacking & River Skills.

 Mexico Semester: Mountaineering, Sea Kayaking, Backpacking.

80 days of quality technical instruction and leadership training!
After each 24-day segment, students have 4 days to clean up, do laundry, catch up on correspondence with everyone at home, recharge, and prepare for their transition into the next course.
At the end of an IWLS semester, students will be solid and competent leaders in a variety of terrains and activities. After this intensive leadership training semester, participants may have the opportunity to join the IWLS team as an assistant instructor.
