Jess grew up in a kayak in Southeast Alaska. She has done many expeditions around the islands near Juneau, her home town. Jess was a teacher on the Navajo Reservation before moving back to Haines Alaska. Jess likes being out in January when she gets the ocean all to herself with the northern lights shining on the snow.
